Day 5, still in Columbia, NC. Two walks from the Alligator River to Creswell. Morning walk was no problem; afternoon walk was brutal with fierce head winds and spotty rain. Topped 100 miles total (103.76 miles).
Enjoyed strolling down the main street on Columbia. Went into the Scuppernong Mill House, which is a combination of bakery, café and antique shop. The hardware store has been there since 1948 and has not changed a lick. They are considering accepting those “new fangled credit cards” but haven’t gone there yet. The movie theatre is closed but is now used as a cultural arts center. Larry and Ann McCullough at the Visitors Center were friendly and helpful. All in all, Columbia is a laid back, interesting and historical community.
We are limited on putting pictures on this website. Please “like” and go to Heart Trek USA on Facebook to see many pictures of our trip. Apparently we will take a picture of anything, but these will be great memories.
Looking for better weather and moving the RV to Plymouth tomorrow. Thanks to the NC Bankers Association for booking advance parking spots for us and to East Carolina Bank in Manteo and BB&T in Columbia for their hospitality.
