I have in my hand the latest issue of Carolina Banker and on the front cover is a picture of a crazy man on a 3000 mile walk. Any idea who that might be?
In case you are wondering how I got a copy of this my wife Pam has been a banker for 40 years . She is a VP at the Bank of Granite here in Hickory.
Colon, so sorry I am unable to make the walk in Raleigh. Dad is still on the fence as it relates to his health. I am staying with him at the Rehab most days to ensure he gets what he needs. I am so so sorry. Would have loved to seen you……take care. I will be keeping up with ya as time permits……Theresa
Colon, Great to see my old boss doing something so positive! My Dad had a similar experience with heart disease and thanks to the work of the Heart Institute at East Carolina he lived an additional 15 years. Unforthuantely Cancer got him last Summer. If you need company along the way. I would be happy to walk with you anyway along the route. I have family in Pasadena, maybe I can take in the finish. Thanks for all your doing to bring awareness.
Good to hear from you, Tom. Sorry to hear about your dad. He was a fine banker and man. You are welcome anywhere along my track. Check out the route on my website http://www.HeartTrekUSA.com. Walking right thru Pasadena around Labor Day. Thanks for your interest and support.
Hi Colon,
I enjoy reading your posts. Please let us know how you are feeling, how many pairs of shoes you have gone through, how is your body dealing with walks.
I’m doing well. Wilt a little in the heat of afternoon walks so I’m trying to stay ahead of schedule before AZ and NM. My feet are pretty torn up, but I work on them nightly. Still fighting kidney stones also. Otherwise holding up well.
I’ve retired 2 pairs of shoes that I had trained in. 5 pairs left which have been in the rotation. Have finished just over 1,400 miles in 74 days.
Thanks for your interest and concern. I’m going to make it. Stay in touch.
Hi Popsy! I hope that the trek is going well. You are more then half way there and we can’t wait to see you afterwards. I just got my braces on Wednesday! I hope you are doing well along with Grandma and Zuzu! We love you very much!
Thank you, Kaylee. I always love hearing from you. Please send a picture with your braces. A pretty girl getting even prettier. We are all doing well. Grandma is enjoying the trip. Zuzu is still very sweet and is almost full grown. Love to all of you. See you in the Fall. Pops
It is fantastic what you have accomplished. I was in AZ last week with Ethan and my dad to see the Grand Canyon and we were in Flagstaff too (just North of you). I wished it had timed better and I would’ve driven down to see you and walked some. I enjoy reading your posts. Take care.
Colon & Brenda, You’ve been an inspiration to me during this entire trip and also given me a great motivation to walk. I started walking 2 l/3 to 3 miles a day the end of June and only missed days that golf and then I try to walk as much as possible. Another friend was diagnosed with diabetes and high cholesterol earlier in the year and lost sight in one eye. That gives me motivation to improve my health too! Good prevention goes along way. Good luck and congratulations on journey which touches many.
